Originally released in 1986, this full length album is often regarded as one of the most recognized works in the entire Paul Chain catalog, and for good reason. The album expanded on much of the dark and occult atmosphere found in the first release (Detaching From Satan) while adding some very new sounds that gave a clear glimpse into the future of the project. With this release, Paul Chain Violet Theatre could no longer simply be called experimental. They had fully broken through towards something new and unseen in doom metal that has yet to be matched to this day.

As with much of Paul Chain’s work, vocals drift between the familiar and the unknown, delivered in his signature phonetic style that never fails to add to the project’s mystique. Paul Chain Violet Theatre remained a fluid and collaborative effort throughout its lifespan, and 'IN THE DARKNESS' stands as a key release in that evolution. We're thrilled to share this classic with you, and of course, more will follow.
